Thanks for the great review!limited to simple will and trustThis software is excellent except it is only useful for very simple wills and trust.For instance, I wanted to name a beneficiary in my trust and want to name an alternative if that person died before me...name my brother, then if he dies, his kids get his portion of my estate. WillMaker doesn't allow this. It only goes to the first level and doesn't allow you to go to the second.So, I wasted my money.Will Maker does allow for an alternative beneficiary but doesn't allow me to list who gets my assets if that person isn't alive. Willmaker 2024 (from NOLO) is worthlessWillmaker 2024 (from NOLO) is worthless: It forces online installation and obscures the downloadable version instead of sensing an already installed 2021 version (now made suddenly obsolete with no updates!). When trying to replace/remove a person, instead of doing a global removal, one must go to each/every occurrence of that person and remove them...and that's impossible because the "removal/deletion" function doesn't work. I can replace the name with someone else, but not delete them. The "worksheet" is in microscopic 3-point font better suited to the small print in a car sales contract than a will/trust creation program. When, after having spent a lot of time adding info. to the so-called worksheet, it cannot be saved because it's a PDF file. There's no provision for saving a PDF, so Willmaker calls (!!) Adobe Acrobat Reader!! which cannot save pdf files. Nonetheless, it "tries" to save the worksheet but says, "sorry, no can overwrite a previous file of the same name...do you want to save it with another name?" -- and then offers no dialog to do that -- even if Adobe Acrobat could save it (oh, but if I sign up for a 7-day "free" trial of regular Adobe...). I even have a PDF read/write add-on that my system will open automatically for just such cases—but Willmaker ignores that default add-on.Bottom line: stay away from Willmaker...and forget about their customer support. Two things I wanted to recommend being added to the Will information. 1. The Will need two witnesses that are not mentioned in the will, related to the person or hospital staff. 2. The transfer of deed says it has to be filed before death. In my case the auditor allowed the filing after death since the deed had been signed and notarized before death. Thought it might be good to add to check what your County Auditor on this if you don’t get it filed before. Program is easy to use. Nolo provides quality software at a fair price.I'm still working with Willmaker. There is a lot of information to absorb, collect, and process. The in-context help is fantastic. I also use Gemini Pro to help fill in any questions I have. In the past, I have used a much older version of Willmaker. I also have a lot of experience with estate planning lawyers. IMO Willmaker does a more comprehensive job than so-called professional lawyers. Remember, a lawyer only offers an opinion. And, if you end up needing them to support the documents you paid for the hourly rate can bankrupt you or in this case, drain your estate away from your heirs. Includes many kinds of legal documents that are needed for any family. Allows creation of an “exact” duplicate for same document by your spouse, but has to be the exact same, except for swapping out each spouse. I had to "upgrade" to Willmaker 2024 from Willmaker 2021 when the 2021 version said it was required. I paid $69 for 2021, so expected that an "upgrade" would cost something less than what I paid for the 2021 version. Paying 25% or 50% is what other programs charge to upgrade.
