However, due to the three major gods making a pact to not father any more children after the Second World War, Poseidon decided to abandon Percy. Author Rick Riordan was involved in production every step of the way, unlike previous adaptations of the books, and says the show will deliver the faithfulness to the source material and the level of detail that fans have been requesting. “I feel comfortable telling fans of the books who have been waiting — in some cases, decades — for this kind of faithful adaptation, that this is the one you’ve been waiting for. We are involved and I think you’re gonna love it,” Riordan told Entertainment Weekly. Riordan has also confirmed that writing for a possible second season has already started, and plans have been made for extensions beyond that, despite Disney not yet officially greenlighting the show’s renewal. Who will star in Percy Jackson and the Olympians? The cast was a major aspect in making a truthful Percy Jackson adaptation that also reflected the growth that the world of television and film has achieved since the publication of the books almost 20 years ago. This article is about the character from Percy Jackson and the Olympians. For the character from Hercules, see Poseidon.Poseidon is a supporting character in the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. He is the God of Seas and Oceans and is the father of Percy Jackson. Background[]Personality[]Poseidon is depicted as a very mature, yet cautious individual. It is heavily implied that in the past, he was a destructive and aloof, as evidenced with his past history with Medusa. Since then, he has since become aware of his actions and shows genuine care for the likes of Sally Jackson and their son Percy, being very supportive of both of them and offering as much advice as he can for them. While he can be just as prideful as the other gods, his love for his son overcomes this, as he puts his own life on the line for him.Physical appearance[]Poseidon is depicted as and older man with reddish hair who dresses in casual beach clothing. He also has a necklace with a small sea shell attached to it.Powers and abilities[]Poseidon has control over all of the world's oceans and can apparently also communicate with ocean wildlife as well. His main weapon is a trident that functions similarly to his son's weapon.Role in the series[]The Lightning Thief[]Poseidon is one of the many gods that hail from Mount Olympus and, much like them, has had a history of debauchery. He fathered the child Procrustes, who was later placed to guard the Underworld, and had a questionable relationship with Medusa that resulted in her getting cursed in the state that she's in. Poseidon eventually calmed down when he met Sally Jackson, whom he saw much hope in, and together had Percy. Due to his godly duties, Poseidon could not be there for him, but apparently kept a close eye on him as he realized that he was destined for greatness. When Sally was considering sending Percy to Camp Half-Blood, Poseidon convinced her to continue raising him in the mortal world as long as possible, so that he knew what it was like being human.Poseidon
