Strong's Concordance of the Bible : Strong, James

Vine's Expository Bible Dictionary with Holy BibleAlso I recommend you "Bible Concordance & Strongs" which you find in my app. You find there Bible Concordance, Strong's Concordance and Hebrew and Greek dictionaries. It is a cross-reference from key English words in the Authorized King James Bible Version to the original words in the Greek texts of the New Testament. In his preface to the book, Vine wrote, - "The present volumes are produced especially for the help of those who do not study Greek, though it is hoped that those who are familiar with the original will find them useful."Vine did not write an equivalent work for Old Testament Hebrew words; however, Vine's work is sometimes combined with another author's Hebrew dictionary and marketed under Vine's name as a "complete" expository dictionary. It provides a concise meaning of the original Greek word, often providing Bible verse references as examples. If there are several Greek words that may translate to the same English word, Vine's distinguishes the shadings of meaning and connotation that may be lost in the English translation. For example, there are a number of Greek words that may be translated by the English word love.Vine's also provides the definition of a word (as used in the King James Version) more accurately than an English dictionary, because it expands the Greek use of the word. For example, the word, "godliness" in 1 Tim. 2:2 is defined in the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary as "1: Divine 2: pious, devout -", but in Vines, it is defined as " 'to be devout,' denotes that piety which is characterized by a Godward attitude, does that which is well-pleasing to Him." So we have a fuller meaning of the word by seeing how the word is used in the NT.Dear users - I made this

Are you a new user? Don't buy this app, instead consider Strong's Concordance 2 which is now released on the App Store.Strong's Concordance, is a concordance of the King James Bible (KJV) that was constructed under the direction of Dr. James Strong (1822–1894) and first published in 1890.A concordance lets the reader directly compare how the same word may be used else where in the Bible. In this way the Strong's Concordance provides an independent check against translations, and offers an opportunity for greater, and more technically accurate understanding of the Bible text.Want to see it in action before you buy? Try Strong's Concordance Lite which provides a 100% functional demo of Matthew and Genesis. This program does not require internet access, everything you need is all stored on the iDevice.Features:* Search for English words, and lookup Greek/Hebrew dictionaries.* Proper concordance, listing how the word was translated in other bible verses.* Full King James Text is included* Click on any blue word for concordance text.* Night mode for those that like to read at night (White on black)* iPad supportPlease note: This version is not an "exhaustive" concordance, and does skip smaller words such as "and, or, the, a" as well as some other words. Though we think you'll find it has most (if not all) the words you'll ever need. We're open to suggestions for improvement in future versions. Send comments and suggestions to strongs at orionsys.org. View that window. The "Today" is the e-Sword devotional window. The "Editor" window lets you create Study Notes--but not Journal Notes or Topic Notes. The "Lexicon" window shows the Strong's Dictionary, and the "Dictionaries" window shows all other dictionaries. (I believe dictionary modules that are labeled "Strongs" in the Details table of the module.)Another feature I found interesting is that you can highlight any word and view Apple's dictionary definition:My first downloads was my favorite (condensed) Bible commentary, Believer's Bible Commentary:e-Sword HD validated my registration key for this product immediately and without issue. The product keys are not case sensitive and do not require you to enter spaces. The dictionary window appears much like the e-Sword PC version. One feature I really liked was the History window, as shown below. The one feature I found missing was no Dictionary Topics window. If you want to view a specific Dictionary topic, you may swipe your fingers to scroll alphabetically through the Dictionary topics. You may not pick from the Dictionary topics in a window. But this isn't too bad once you get used to searching for the term instead.I really liked the "ease" of searching the Bible:I can envision folks using this in church but I can also imagine laying in bed, looking up a verse, a commentary, or a devotional. e-Sword HD makes reading in low light situations easy, with several predefined settings for low light, lamp light, and day light. Low light turns the background black and the text white.
