The reason for trouble was due to the following sequence of events:1. VM was created2. SQL Server with named instance was installed3. SQL Server was registered with DPA4. VM was re-created using SQL Server with default instance, MSSQLSERVERNeeded to unregister this server and re-register it fresh. Then the alerts started working.
