Our place. From far and near, we’ve traveled true, To cherish moments, both old and new. With every hug, the distance fades, In the glow of love, our fears are laid.Through generations, the bonds grow strong, In harmony, we sing our song. A tapestry woven with laughter and tears, Together we stand, dismissing our fears. So let us dance, let us partake, In this reunion, memories we make. For in our hearts, forever stays, The joy of family in endless ways. The Family Tree In a garden of love, our family tree grows,With roots intertwined, like a dance that it knows.Branches spread wide, reaching up to the sky,Each leaf tells a story, as seasons slip by.Grandma's warm laughter, like sunshine it glows,Uncle's tall tales, where adventure flows.Sisters and brothers, on swings side by side,In memories woven, our hearts take a ride.Through the storms and the sunshine, together we cheer,A circle of love, with those we hold dear. From roots deep in soil to the sky ever blue,Our family tree blossoms, forever anew. Laughter and Tales In a cozy corner, stories unfold, With laughter that sparkles, bright and bold. Little feet dance on the wooden floor, As adults share tales of days before. A grandpa chuckles, his eyes full of glee, ‘Let me tell you ‘bout when I was just three!‘ Kids giggle and wiggle, their faces aglow, As magic and mischief together they show. Moms spin sweet stories, with a wink and a grin, While little ones shout, “Tell it again!” In the laughter of children, the past comes alive, In a family circle, our love will thrive. Echoes of Laughter In the garden, where we played, Echoes of laughter never fade. Chasing butterflies on sunny days, Together in our joyful ways. Mom would call us in for snacks, And we’d race like speedy tracks. Dad would tell us tales of yore, As giggles danced from the living room floor. Silly secrets shared at night, Whispers glowing in the moonlight. These memories, like stars, will stay, In our hearts, forever to play. So let us carry this sweet song, In family love, we. Welcome back, language enthusiasts, to The Language Classroom! Today, we’re embarking on a linguistic journey that’s both fascinating and essential for any budding language explorer. Get ready to unravel the secrets of language families through the magical world of language tree diagrams!Exploring the Family Reunion: What Are Language Families?Imagine a massive family reunion where everyone is connected by invisible threads – that’s kind of like a language family! In the vast landscape of languages, they’re grouped together based on their shared ancestry. Just like cousins share grandparents, languages in a family share a common ancestor known as the “proto-language.”document.createElement('video'); the Language Tree: Your Family Tree for WordsNow, picture a giant tree with branches spreading in all directions. Each branch represents a different language, and the trunk is the ancient root language. This visual marvel is what we call a language tree diagram. Let’s dive into the layers of this linguistic forest!1. The Mighty Trunk – Proto-LanguageAt the tree’s base lies the proto-language, the great-grandparent of all. It’s the ancient code that birthed a whole family of languages. While we can’t hear it today, its echoes resonate through its descendants.2. Major Branches – Language FamiliesAs we move up, the trunk splits into major branches – these are the language families. For example, the Indo-European family is like a large branch hosting languages such as English, Spanish, and Hindi. Each family is a group of related languages that share common roots.3. Smaller Branches – Individual LanguagesZooming in further, each major branch divides into smaller ones – these are individual languages. Taking the Indo-European family as an example, its English branch is further divided into American English, British English, and so on.The Evolutionary Tale: How Languages Change Over TimeJust like animals evolve, languages also undergo changes through generations. The family tree | Image courtesy Etsy seller WordOfLoveI’ll never forget the very first family reunion I went to when I was a kid. My brother, my parents, and I all piled into our red station wagon and road tripped to Wisconsin where we gathered at my Uncle’s country home—along with forty of our relatives. It was the first time that all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins were together in the same place at the same time.I remember feeling very overwhelmed and shy when I first stepped out of the wagon; I’m pretty sure I hid behind my mom for the first full day and avoided making eye contact with anyone. But then, something happened that forced me out of my shell: we had a family gift exchange. I mean, what kid doesn’t like presents, right?I can’t remember the exact details of the exchange, but I do remember that my uncle made it into a super fun game. There was a ton of laughter, a lot of bonding, and only a little bit of play fighting (at least I think it was play fighting). From my experience, there really is no better way to break the ice at a family reunion than with a fun, creative gift exchange that gets everyone involved. It doesn’t matter that it isn’t Christmas; take advantage of the fact that your family is all together and get gifting! Here are my best gift exchange ideas for big families that are bound to have you bonding in no time at your summer reunion.Gift Exchange Ideas for Big Families (and Memorable Reunions)I love dreaming up gift exchange game ideas because there are literally endless possibilities. They can be as simple and straightforward as you like, or as wild and wacky as you dare. The classic white elephant gift exchange is always a hit for any gathering, but the ideas below also emphasize interaction, bonding, and humor—all the ingredients for a memorable family reunion. My hope is that they’ll bring your family closer, break any ice that needs to be broken (there always is in a big family), and maybe even encourage everyone to share a good belly laugh or two.Musical wrap, not rap | Image courtesy Etsy seller stripeycityThe Game of Musical Gifts Do you remember playing musical chairs as a kid? This idea was inspired by that childhood game. It’s super simple to play, so if you have a bunch of little ones in your family it’s a good choice.Basically, everybody sits in a circle holding the gift that they brought. Start the music using a musical chairs app for iOS or Android so that everyone can participate and nobody has to worry about shutting off the music at random intervals. When the music starts, everyone passes their gift to the person to the right of them to the tempo of the song until the music stops. When it does stop, stop passing gifts as well. At this point, you have the option of either keeping

Looking for a recommendation to pay someone to do data conversion for me. I don’t have the time or inclination to learn about various programmes that I will never use.I have really old files from my father-in law who used FTM on Windows.I use Mac (never Windows) and frankly I don't want to use FTM in the future as I prefer to use Reunion. However if I have to buy FTM 2019 then I will. The data I have is 1.4GB. I have just screenshotted the contents and it's all gobbledegook to me. See link below. I have no idea what the relevant files might be, or if there were any images.I assume the 3 folders for Family Tree Maker 2006, Family Tree Maker 2010 and Family Tree Maker 2012 contain the same data, but I can't be sure.1. Conversion from Windows file to Mac/Gedcom2. Can I bypass FTM completely and convert to Reunion? All suggestions welcome. I did find a firm in Doncaster offering this service, but the just don’t respond. Thanks in advance lovely people. No doubt I am posting this in the wrong category!. Ahnentafel Report? It looks pretty much like the Ahnentafel Report. Here is the 5-generation screen shot with Preferred Facts, Person Notes and Sources: This report was 57 pages - why is it different from the Ahnentafel Report? Ah, it lists only the Birth, Marriage and Death Facts, not the other preferred facts. Eliminating Preferred Facts, Person Notes and Sources using the Items to Include screen results in this report:This Simple Ahnentafel Report is still 15 pages, and still lists the children. It includes "More About" the children and also includes the names of the parents of each person in the Ahnentafel list. While this is a nice Ahnentafel Report, it is not the Ahnentafel List that I want with just names, BMD dates and places for my ancestors. Every other genealogy software program that I've seen (Legacy, RootsMagic, The Master Genealogist, Personal Ancestral File, Brother's Keeper, The Family Historian, Family Tree Builder, Reunion, etc.) has the capability to create a simple Ahnentafel List. Here is the screen shot of my five-generation ahnentafel list generated by RootsMagic 4 (it took less than five seconds!): That is exactly what I want! The other programs create something similar. How can Family Tree Maker modify their program to create a simple Ahnentafel List? Easy - add more check boxes to "Include only BMD Facts," "Include children," "Include parents," "Include More About" information, etc. to the "Items to Include" screen.Surely, that cannot be difficult, can it?
