I thought why not, I would check out later before installing. When I clicked "Download Opera GX", a "save as" window opened and instead of clicking "save", I decided to cancel until I figured out if I wanted it. Now, every time I open the Opera Desktop browser, a Save As window automatically opens with "OperaGXsetup.exe" asking me to click to "save" the file. Even thought I cancel (and once I even downloaded the .exe) it keeps happening. Does anyone know how to stop it from trying to download. In Opera I cleared cookies, cache and hosted app data with no luck. Thanks Much! leocg Moderator Volunteer @qqm last edited by @qqm Did you try cleaning up the downloads list? Opera GX seems to have planted a little seed somewhere that triggers Opera Desktop to keep downloading. I really don't want to resort to installing GX to see if that will stop the downloads because then I have to deal with the uninstall - program, registry settings and any modifications GX may make to the Desktop version that is configured perfectly. Hope there's another idea. Another big reason I don't want to reset Opera or risk messing with my Opera Desktop setup is I have a password manager that is very finicky to set up with Opera to recognize the master encrypted password file, and it's finally also working perfectly. Any other ideas will be very welcome. Is there a way to reach out to the Opera GX development team about this? Thanks. leocg Moderator Volunteer @qqm last edited by @qqm Are you closing all tabs before closing Opera? qqm @leocg last edited by @leocg Closing all tabs worked! (Opera is set to open with last session) Saved open tabs in speed dial folder, closed them and restarted Opera. No more GX download. I'll remember this tip Open Opera GX and navigate to Opera Extensions Get extensions; Manually Import Passwords into Opera GX: Open Opera GX and navigate to Settings Passwords and forms Manage passwords; Open a black small screen (opening opera animation) on the screen, opening for a second, closing, and this process repeating three or four times before giving up. In the task manager it says a opera crash reporter was on in the background too. I came back from school today and now the black screen thing happens, but a opera gx logo appears. is there anything youve done to fix anything similar to this? If you're encountering an issue where Opera GX restarts immediately upon opening on Mac Sonoma, and you cannot access safe mode or configuration settings, here's a simple solution.Solution: Update Opera GX using the Brew package manager for simplicity and reliability.Steps to Resolve:Open the Terminal on your Mac.Install or update Opera GX using the Brew package manager with the following command:brew install --cask opera-gxBrew will handle downloading, upgrading, and replacing the existing app for you. For example, here's what you might see during the process:==> Downloading 100.0%==> Upgrading 1 outdated package:opera-gx 114.0.5282.243 -> 115.0.5322.113==> Upgrading opera-gx==> Downloading 100.0%==> Backing App 'Opera GX.app' up to '/opt/homebrew/Caskroom/opera-gx/114.0.5282==> Removing App '/Applications/Opera GX.app'==> Moving App 'Opera GX.app' to '/Applications/Opera GX.app'==> Purging files for version 114.0.5282.243 of Cask opera-gx🍺 opera-gx was successfully upgraded!Once the upgrade is complete, launch Opera GX. It should now open smoothly without issues.Outcome: This method resolved the restarting issue, and Opera GX worked seamlessly afterward.Note: A similar approach might work on Windows, but Brew isn't available for Windows.Feel free to share if this resolves your issue? 🧉 ThortheOG @darksorcy last edited by Hello there @darksorcy. Is it saved locally like chrome or is it saved somewhere online? And is it vulnerable to password grabbers like chrome is? leocg Moderator Volunteer @BlueWhiteBrosH last edited by @bluewhitebrosh In Login Data files, located in the profile directory. leocg Moderator Volunteer @BlueWhiteBrosH last edited by @bluewhitebrosh If you enable passwords synchronization, it will also be stored online. In both cases, local and remote, it is stored encrypted. leocg Moderator Volunteer @BlueWhiteBrosH last edited by @bluewhitebrosh Both Opera and Chrome are based on Chromium and use the exact same passwords manager. BlueWhiteBrosH @leocg last edited by BlueWhiteBrosH @leocg so they're safe even if i accidentally download a password grabber? or is that not how it works? leocg Moderator Volunteer @BlueWhiteBrosH last edited by @bluewhitebrosh I guess it will depend on how that passwords grabber works. BlueWhiteBrosH @leocg last edited by BlueWhiteBrosH @leocg can you give me a path where i can find it? because i'm having trouble finding it. where the passwords are stored, that is leocg Moderator Volunteer @BlueWhiteBrosH last edited by @bluewhitebrosh Check the path to the profile directory in opera://about

Open the CSV file in a text editor to confirm your login info is there are correct. Then, in Opera, with the import flag mentioned earlier turned on, goto the URL opera://settings/passwords, click the 3 dots to the right of "saved passwords", and import the CSV file. For crashes, see this post. For someone to try and reproduce the crash when importing bookmarks my Chrome, your exact Chrome version details would be needed. And, your "Bookmarks" file in your Chrome profile folder would be needed. Also, your exported bookmarks.html file would be needed too if importing from the file causes a crash too.A bookmarks
2025-04-12And require some luck, but nothing is more satisfying than managing that total conquest. What is the best browser to use for gaming?Well, Opera GX is certainly the best browser for gaming. As we just showed you, GX.games has a massive library of games exclusive to the browser. On top of that, the browser comes with features that enhance gaming such as reducing CPU usage.Besides Opera GX, Chrome is also pretty good. It’s not a gaming browser but does have features that gamers would like. For example, it has a built-in password manager for protecting your Runescape account and you can sync passwords to other devices.Firefox is also pretty good thanks to its security features. Vivaldi is recommended for its advanced tab management. Feel free to comment below if you have any questions on Opera, other browsers, and video games.
