30th anniversary. Sorry about that.A rescan didn't do the trick.Thank you for trying to help with this. MusicBee 3.6.9154 / Windows 10 (64-bit) / Intel i5-3470 / 8GB RAMMedia on NAS (CIFS share)20K+ tracks, predominantly FLAC ; converted to mp3 (lame -V 0) when synced to a Cowon D2+________________________________________________________________________________________________Get the latest patch: You clicked Preview in the virtual tag definition and it displayed the values as expected?if so then one thing you havent posted in your expanded panel settings. Make sure the sub-header field is still referencing the right virtual tag I noticed that in multi-album CDs, where there disk# tag is set correctly, that sub header is empty for the 2nd CD. Odd.The preview, unfortunately, picked some album that isn't multi-CD and seems fine (i.e. empty preview).A few more snaps: MusicBee 3.6.9154 / Windows 10 (64-bit) / Intel i5-3470 / 8GB RAMMedia on NAS (CIFS share)20K+ tracks, predominantly FLAC ; converted to mp3 (lame -V 0) when synced to a Cowon D2+________________________________________________________________________________________________Get the latest patch: no idea i am afraid. You will need to figure this out for yourself eg. try setting up a new virtual tag starting with a simple formula and build it up from there OK. trying to display results in "Unknown Disc Count" both in multi-CD and single CD albums. Why is that? Instead of showing the values I see the formula itself as a sub-group header. At first, when editing the formula it showed an error. But after adding "Set Subtitle" as a custom tag it no longer displays that the formula has any kind of errors. Still, the sub header that is displayed is the formula itself. What am I doing wrong? 2025-04-08Topic: MusicBee reported as virus/trojan (Read 47959 times) Not only Avast, while I was able to install MusicBee 3.3.7491 without any problems, Norton 360 reports all beta versions to be infected with Heur.ADVMLB.Can you share a screenshot to prove that that is actually happening? ...Strange. I personally can't recall anybody reporting Norton to raise false flags on any MB 3.4 version before. It would probably be good to report this to Symantec/Norton. It's obviously a problem on their side.Anyway, I just ran the latest MusicBee 3.4 beta .exe through VirusTotal.Hopefully that proves to anyone stumbling upon threads like this one that MusicBee's trackrecord is still perfect after all these years.(as long as you download it from MusicBee's website of course) Last Edit: October 16, 2020, 09:38:27 PM by hiccup It usually the bass*.dll files, not musicbee itself, that cause these alerts due to the way the bass developer compresses the files. Its up to the security software vendors to scan his site to whitelist the official dll files. I included a bunch of updated bass plugins in the last 3.4 beta update so it will probably take a bit of time for the alerts to stop Thanks Steven. For now, I am happy with 3.3.7491. And btw, Congratulations on this great piece of work! I'm getting a report of a trojan in 3.4.7586 on both the dropbox link and the backup. As I've had this installed for quite some time so I suspect a windows defender definition update is to blame. I tested it on windows 7. Any body else have xp or vista? Steven: can you also confirm it runs if you arent an administrator of your PC ie. have UAC enabled thegreyspot: Yes I can verify Windows 7 UAC highest, and standard user. Steven: i just tried on XP - it doesnt present a cancellation dialog box - does it for you? thegreyspot: No it does not, however you can close the cmd box. Ya kinda lame. But maybe you do want to make your own cancellation box and just set the time to zero. I only really like it because it allow you to choose between hibernation and sleep. 2025-03-28Musicorganization Table of ContentsOverviewHere is a brief overview of what happens to new content coming in to my library. Tags get cleaned up, any missing metadata is populated, missing album art is retrieved. FLACs are transcoded to MP3s and album art is embedded, then the MP3s are imported to iTunes for syncing with iTunes Match. Processed content is moved to the library once everything looks good. Final confirmation is performed in foobar2000, MusicBee, and iTunes, making sure the number of songs and albums matches.Software Usedfoobar2000 - foobar2000 is an advanced freeware audio player for the Windows platform. While it has a loyal following for being a free and highly customizable media player, I find foobar2000 rather cumbersome and dated in terms of usability. Although I've struggled for years to adopt it as my go-to music player, I've grown to appreciate its many utility functions, and rock solid performance. Used to manipulate tags, perform pattern-based renaming and file/folder re-organization, transcode between formats, and to batch embed artwork.Discogs Tagger - foobar2000 plugin for fetching Discogs.org metadata. Used to fetch genre information.LAME - LAME is a high quality MPEG Audio Layer III (MP3) encoder licensed under the LGPL. Used to transcode to MP3. Binaries can be downloaded from here.iTunes - A heaping pile of garbage that unfortunately comes bundled with a single killer feature: iTunes Match Used to sync music library to iTunes Match for access on compatible mobile devices.MusicBee - MusicBee makes it easy to manage, find, and play music files on your computer. After spending a couple of hours one weekend tinkering with the layout options, I fell in love with MusicBee. It looks great, scrolling through 2000+ albums is fast, it barely uses 100MB of RAM, and has all the playback features I need.Folder StructureI've adopted this structure at some point and stuck with it. If I had to start over I would probably adjust it a bit, but it works fine. These paths will be referenced throughout the rest of the documentation. Folder Description .\_1_new This is essentially the inbox for new content that needs to be processed. .\_2_cleaned_up Content that is being processed currently will stay here until it is 100% ready to join the library. .\_3_archived This is the library root, foobar2000 and MusicBee monitor it for changes. .\_3_archived\_FLAC FLAC content gets sorted here. .\_3_archived\_MP3 MP3 content gets sorted here in rare cases when FLAC is unavailable. .\_itunes iTunes library lives here. .\_itunes\_ready Transcodes from foobar2000 go here with intent of importing to iTunes. NOTE: All documented paths are relative for brevity and readability, however in practice they must be absolute. For ex: Z:\_media\_audio\_1_newfoobar2000 SettingsMP3 Tag HandlingI prefer to avoid ID3v1 and maintain high compatibility for ID3v2, so these are the settings I use.Navigate to Library > Configure > Advanced > Tagging > MP3 ID3v2 revision and quirks( ) Write ID3v2.3 tags (more compatible)( ) Write ID3v2.4 tags (less compatible)[ ] Use padding (faster tag updates, may be incompatible with buggy software)[x] Map TPE2 to Album Artist
