Never have happened if not for one of the most dedicated and loyal fan communities to ever exist. After many long and grueling years, fans' refusal to let their favorite game and mercenaries just rot away or to let Valve continue to coast on their goodwill was finally rewarded. Issue #7 is possibly the start of the game's second wind but, whatever happens to it from here on out, it now has a definite ending. Nothing lasts forever, including Team Fortress 2. The game will be playable via Steam for the foreseeable future, but for a generation of gamers, Team Fortress 2 is done. Older fans can finally rest easy in the knowledge that their faith in its return wasn't futile and move on. Just as Team Fortress' mercenaries showed, there's dignity in knowing when it's time to bow out. Fans can also take comfort in knowing that their favorite mercenaries will be living happily and safely for the rest of their lives. New players will continue to fight RED, BLU or Gray in the coming years, hopefully on new maps and with new weapons. But for those whose formative years were spent fighting over control points, intelligence and payloads in an online war that began nearly 20 years ago, it's the end of the line. "The Days Have Worn Away" gave Team Fortress 2 and its fans the closure they needed and longed for. There couldn't have been a better swan song for the gaming world's most lovably psychotic mercenaries than this. Of any player race. These merchants can be found using the Find ability. Before purchasing a mercenary be sure to read the descriptions, cost value, and restrictions. There are different levels and tiers available. Some mercenaries may not available until you have completed certain content but there are some apprentice and journeyman ones available to all. There are four classes of Mercenaries available - Tank, Healer, Melee DPS and Caster DPS. Healer Mercenary: Healer mercenaries prefer to heal their owner and others in the group rather than engage directly in combat. These mercenaries can also resurrect players upon death. Tank Mercenary: Tank mercenaries prefer to melee. They will taunt if it is set to the main tank role, though it will still attack and behave as a secondary tank if it is not set as main tank. DPS Mercenaries: DPS mercenaries lend good DPS to a group or a solo player encounter. Currently there is a Melee DPS and a Caster DPS.Mercenaries can be suspended like a pet. There are some zones that will automatically suspend your mercenaries upon entering the zone. Mercenaries cannot be used on raids.There are currently four classes of mercenaries: Healer, Tank, Melee DPS and Caster DPS. The Healer and Tank mercenaries are similar to the Cleric and Warrior classes, the two most needed classes in the game. The DPS classes available are similar to the Rogue and Wizard classes.The Healer and Tank classes having been seen to be viable alternatives to grouping (as opposed to being preferred over grouping), the DPS class has now been added to the original two.
