MediaPortal 2 - Alpha 1 Autumn release - MEDIAPORTAL
MediaPortal 2 up and running with basic features. Basically we designed MediaPortal 2 to be as user friendly and intuitive as possible. This includes using the most common default settings and the possibility to run and use Media Portal 2 without doing lots of configurations. But of course there are a few minor things to consider. If you do not wish or need to use a feature, you may skip that step or section. If you have not installed MediaPortal 2 yet, see Installing MediaPortal 2.After you have installed MediaPortal 2 successfully you need to configure a few things to get full benefit out of your new HTPC system. We recommend to start with the TV Setup, if you want to use the Live TV and Recording features of MediaPortal 2.The configuration of the TV section nearly is identical to MediaPortal 1. So if you like to follow any existing MediaPortal 1 setup guides or tutorials you normally can use them without changes for MediaPortal 2 too. There only is one notable difference. For MediaPortal 2 you don't have to install and configure a full blown SQL server (MySQL or SQLExpress) as you need it for MediaPortal 1. The database handling is done internally by the MediaPortal 2 Server. So you always can skip all database configuration parts of any MediaPortal 1 tutorials when using them for MediaPortal 2. Read more on Setup TV...Once you have finished the TV setup you're ready to configure the "rest" of your MediaPortal 2 System. Opposite

MediaPortal 2 Installation and Setup Guides (7 Viewers) Thread starter Lehmden Start date March 30, 2016 Status Not open for further replies. #1 Hi.In this thread I would like to do some "copy & paste" from our new Wiki. Sadly the new Wiki will take some more time before it can be published. As we urgently need some recent installation and setup guides I will copy the overworked parts to this thread. The thread will be closed for discussion, so all information will stay together. If a discussion is wanted and or needed, another thread for the discussion can be found here: you find a link that is not working, this part is not jet ported to this thread, so be patient. It will be fixed as soon as those parts are ported over here. Now let's start. Thread starter #2 OverviewThis guide will help you get started with MediaPortal, prepare your Windows operating system, and install MediaPortal 2 based on your system or network configuration. To start your MediaPortal 2 Experience you first need to install MediaPortal 2.System RequirementsLike any software, MediaPortal 2 has minimal system requirements in order to work. The hardware related system requirements are similar to the ones for MediaPortal 1, which can be found on our website under Products > MediaPortal > Requirements.MediaPortal 2 is developed to run onDifference between Mediaportal 1 and 2
To MediaPortal 1 all further configuration is done inside the Client GUI. No extra configuration tool is needed. We can separate "global" options like media sources and server settings that has impact on any client connected to the system from "client specific" settings like appearance and codec settings that are used for the local client only. The most important global settings are the media sources. You need to configure your media once on one client (no matter which one) to have them available on any clients. So you can configure the media sources on the workstation in your home-office that has mouse and keyboard attached to it and can use them instantly on your HTPC in the living room that don't have mouse/keyboard without any further action. read more on Media Sources...If you like to alter the visual appearance of your MediaPortal 2 client and / or want to configure some client plugins you can do this inside the client GUI too. No need to close the client only to exchange a theme or so. Read more on Client Configuration...You can control the MediaPortal 2 client with various devices like mouse, keyboard, remote and even with touch display (skin specific). A list of devices and how they are configured can be found on the page "InputDevices"Read more on InputDevices... Thread starter #8 TV & Radio SetupHow to configure TV and Radio for use with MediaPortal 2.IntroductionMediaPortal 2 provides a whole-house media solution, which includes sharing TV Tuner(s) to multiple systems (clients). How to play ISO files? (1 Viewer) Thread starter Quirinus Start date September 18, 2010 September 18, 2010 1 0 Home Country Norway #1 HiJust installed Media Portal (1.1.0) for the first time, and I wonder if it's possible to play .iso files? I have adde .iso as an additional extension, so all my iso files do show up in MP. I have also installed Deamon tools (lite), if I mount an Iso file to it MP does play it, but it's kind of impractical to have to manually mount a new file everytime I want to watch a movie...Any suggestions?Never mind! Just didn't look hard enoughFor those who wonder do the following: Config->general->Virtual Drive->check "Automount image files".You need to have Deamon Tools installed.Wow, now I'm really impressed with media portal #2 Hi, and welcome As an alternative to Deamon tools, you can also use Virtual Clone Drive. And yes... Guide: DVBLink v4 and MediaPortal Guide!*Updated 2012-01-24* (2 Viewers) Thread starter pjotr2k Start date October 13, 2011 #11 How to fix no signal issue:1. Navigate to the DVBLink webserver and go to the media section where you can view and stream your channels. Make sure that transcoding is disabled in options so it will give you a .m3u file. 2. Hover over the "Play" button within the DVBLink webserver and select the "Copy link to clipboard" option. You will see that next to "Client=" there is a long hashtag, copy this code and then do a "Find and Replace" within the DVBLink.Comhem created earlier. Replace all the "Client=AAAAAAAA" with the hastag found earlier, so it will be similar to: "Client=m5ghg15165883838asdas35456146as1d". 3. Scan channels and it should work now. NOTE: Even though channels scan, you will get a "ChannelIsScrambled" error when trying to preview, and when trying to view through MediaPortal EPG the same "Channe is Scrambled" error will apear. One step closer – fixed one issue and another one popped up. Hopefully this will help someone else diagnose further... #12 I was planning to 'upgrade' from WMC to Mediaportal and I'm using DVBLogic TV Source too. Why is it a pain to install the virtual tuners in Mediaportal? I don't understand why DVBLink didn't make a plugin or the support in Mediaportal is better. There are thousands of people using TV Source with WMC, but because Microsoft isn't developing anymore I'm sure a lot want to change Media Center software. #13 I now have installed it without DVBLogic. Works fine, just need to think about something else to streamDifference between Mediaportal 1 and 2 (ers)
Throughout my home. November 23, 2011 9 1 44 Home Country Netherlands #14 I've used this tutorial in combination with 2x HDHomerun HDHR3-EU (total 4 tuners) and DVBLink. So I created a m3u file for all 4 tuners. In this m3u files are all my tv channels (like I added 4 DVB-IP MediaPortal IPTV Sources with each a differtent m3u file. I mapped 1 "version" of each channel to a IPTV source and combined the channels on every card with each other. I can stream 1 channel. But when a record an other channel the stream in MediaPortal freezes. In Mediaportal TV Server I see that 2 IPTV sources are in use. But when I look in the hdhomerun Config GUI utility, I see that only one tuner is in use. the other 3 are not in use. What can I do? Edit : I just found it is a DVBLink problem. First I'll try to fix that. Probably that will fix the problem. I am severely regretting buying DVBLink server.
