Moderator: Gurus wetdawg1 ipod? Can anyone answer my question from before? How do I sync MM with the iPod? The file/directory patterns in the sync options don't match the structure the iPod needs. FurAnt Posts: 165 Joined: Thu Jul 17, 2003 3:38 pm Location: Atlanta, GA Use EphPod and MM Post by FurAnt » Mon Apr 19, 2004 10:24 pm You'll need to use EphPod to update the iPod Database.Yes, the iPod mounts as a drive just fine and yes, you could just copy the mp3s over to the iPod using Mediamonkey's newest functionality, but until you update the iPod database and place the songs in the specific file directories, the iPod won't list the songs by Artist, Genre, etc.So, what do you do?Manage your music collection in Mediamonkey. Level the volume using MP3Gain (if you're so inclined). Create as many different playlists within Mediamonkey as you need to allow you to switch songs to and from the iPod.Then, export the playlists to .m3u files in a directory that is synched by Ephpod. If you're using MM Gold, download the script for exporting playlists here: may sound complex, but it now works flawlessly for me with almost no maintenance involved (and beats the crap out of MusicMatch Jukebox). I just move m3u files in an out of the synched directory to define which music will be copied to the iPod.Let me know if you have any questions.Joey rusty Posts: 8790 Joined: Tue Apr 29, 2003 3:39 am Location: Montreal, Canada Using MM with iPod Post by rusty » Tue Apr 20, 2004 8:55 am Furant,Thanks for the info--I wasn't aware that iPod could be mounted as a usb mass storage device. One note that might be of interest: MM 2.2 adds MP3Gain style volume leveling for MP3 files.
