Scrabble Blast requires you to race against a clock, so it has elements of video games like Space Invaders or Tetris. Players find words, while the game screen speeds up ever faster. Accummulate points to prove your vocabulary and spelling skills. At first glance, the game screen looks a lot like a Scrabble board, except a gameboard that’s filled up with letters. You have to find word patterns amidst these random looking word sequences, building words like you would in a regular game of Scrabble, except you can create words diagonally. That might take some getting used to, for you Scrabble purists. The Bomb ChallengeThe twist with a game of Scrabble Blast is you’re playing against a timer. Every so often, a bomb square appears at the top of the screen. As the game progresses, these squares shift down the board. Like in Checkers, if one ever reaches the other side of the board, bad things happen (you lose). Luckily, you can eliminate bomb icons by building a word over the bomb. When you do, you hear an explosion and see the icon disappear. The game goes faster, until you can no longer hold back the inevitable bomb that gets through. Winning a game of Scrabble Blast is about attaining the highest score, so you’re pitting yourself against all other players. There are two versions of the bomb game: Puzzle Mode and Action Mode.Blasted Word GamesScrabble Blast is therefore a competition for finding already existing words amidst a jumble of letter icons, instead of building words from letter tiles. This means the challenge might not appeal to every word game afficionado. At the same time, those who enjoy video games can brush up on their word skills and spelling ability, so those who don’t like when their favorite games are changed shouldn’t get too upset. Scrabble Blast is a good way for the younger generation to increase their spelling ability. For those who visit online forums and message boards, you know that can’t be a bad thing. 1 Bag Scrabble ModePlaying Scrabble Blast includes other word game variations, such as the “1 Bag Mode”. 1-Bag gives you 100 letter tiles and challenges you to build as many words as possible.

But when he heard that the bomb had been used in Japan, he said, "Woe is me." And he wrote in a Japanese magazine in 1952 that he was "well aware of the dreadful danger for all mankind, if these experiments would succeed." "I did not see any other way out," he wrote. As well as scattered varieties of Edinburgh, England, and Welsh English.[5]The perceived name of the letter affects the choice of indefinite article before initialisms beginning with H: for example 'an H-bomb' or 'a H-bomb'. The pronunciation /heɪtʃ/ may be a hypercorrection formed by analogy with the names of the other letters of the alphabet, most of which include the sound they represent.[6]The haitch pronunciation of h has spread in England, being used by approximately 24% of English people born since 1982,[7] and polls continue to show this pronunciation becoming more common among younger native speakers. Despite this increasing number, the pronunciation without the /h/ sound is still considered to be standard in England, although the pronunciation with /h/ is also attested as a legitimate variant.[3]Authorities disagree about the history of the letter's name. The Oxford English Dictionary says the original name of the letter was [ˈaha] in Latin; this became [ˈaka] in Vulgar Latin, passed into English via Old French [atʃ], and by Middle English was pronounced [aːtʃ]. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language derives it from French hache from Latin haca or hic. Anatoly Liberman suggests a conflation of two obsolete orderings of the alphabet, one with H immediately followed by K and the other without any K: reciting the former's .., H, K, L,.. as [..(h)a ka el ..] when reinterpreted for the latter .., H, L,.. would imply a pronunciation [(h)a ka] for H.[8]Use in writing systemsEnglishIn English, ⟨h⟩ occurs as a single-letter grapheme (being either silent or representing the voiceless glottal fricative (/h/) and in various digraphs, such as ⟨ch⟩ /tʃ/, /ʃ/, /k/, or /x/), ⟨gh⟩ (silent, /ɡ/, /k/, /p/, or /f/), ⟨ph⟩ (/f/), ⟨rh⟩ (/r/), ⟨sh⟩ (/ʃ/), ⟨th⟩ (/θ/ or /ð/), ⟨wh⟩ (/hw/[9]). The letter is silent in a syllable rime, as in ah, ohm, dahlia, cheetah, pooh-poohed, as well as in certain other words (mostly of French origin) such as hour, honest, herb (in American but not British English) and vehicle. Initial /h/ is often not pronounced in the weak form of some function words including had, has, have, he, her, him, his, and in some varieties of English (including most regional dialects of England and Wales) it is often omitted in all words (see '⟨h⟩'-dropping). It was formerly common for an rather than a to be used as the indefinite article before a word beginning with /h/ in an unstressed syllable,. Albert Einstein was famously a pacifist, but he urged the US to develop the atomic bomb. This helped pave the way for the Manhattan Project, which developed the bombs dropped on Japan. He worried Nazi Germany was developing nuclear weapons, but later learned they were far behind the US. On August 2, 1939, one month before the outbreak of World War II, Albert Einstein signed a two-page letter to US President Franklin D. Roosevelt that would help bring the US into the nuclear arms race and change the course of history. Einstein, the famous German-born physicist, was already in the US, having fled Germany when the Nazis came to power. He learned that German scientists had discovered nuclear fission, the process of splitting an atom's nucleus to release energy. The letter warned Roosevelt that "extremely powerful bombs of a new type" could be created in light of this discovery — and that these bombs would be capable of destroying entire ports and their surrounding areas. The letter — which Einstein would later call his "one great mistake" — urged Roosevelt to speed up uranium research in the US. You can read it here, or read a full transcript at the bottom of this article: The letter from Albert Einstein to President Frankin D Roosevelt. Atomic Heritage Foundation Einstein's warnings were read to Roosevelt by a man named Alexander Sachs, who also read out other warnings about such a bomb to the president, The New York Times reported at the time. Roosevelt said, "Alex, what you are after is to see that the Nazis don't blow us up." Sachs responded with a single word: "Precisely." Roosevelt then called in his secretary and told him that "this requires action." Einstein, who was Jewish, had been encouraged to write to Roosevelt by LeoChronology of the letter bombs
In an email to parents Thursday evening, Malibu High School Principal Mark Kelly provided a summary of the events surrounding a bomb threat that resulted in a lockdown of Malibu High School and the adjacent Juan Cabrillo Elementary and Malibu United Methodist Schools for most of the school day Thursday. The school received a phone call at about 10:10 a.m. Thursday from someone believed to be a teenager. The person said a team of students was planting a bomb on the campus. The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station was called and the campus was locked down. Students were evacuated from their classrooms into the school gyms. At 1:30 p.m., a search of the campus by a bomb-sniffing dog was completed and students were allowed to return to classrooms. The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station says no arrests have been made and an investigation into who made the phone call is ongoing. For more information, read the full text of Principal Kelly’s letter below:Statement from Malibu High Principal Mark Kelly:I am writing to address today’s incident on campus. At approximately 10:10 a.m., we received a phone call from what we believe to be a teenager who stated that a team of students were planting a bomb on the campus. We received additional calls containing additional threats to safety. We took the call seriously and immediately executed our emergency procedures for such an issue. The Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department was contacted. Per direction from law enforcement, we evacuated students to our evacuation area and.
