The BIOS will not be able to find an NVME controller to boot from. It does not have the NVME code to see such device as boot media. The Z240 has that feature with its BIOS I work for HP. Symptoms began with the Alachritech network card 2001XT coming up as unconnected even though it was clearly connected. So I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Perhaps that is the cause of these shutdowns? Perhaps I installed the software the wrong way? I used the version on the D drive in drivers...Generally I use the fibre attached clients but for once I have an ethernet client in house. Seemed to work fin for a week or two before it started playing up with the symptoms above.Any ideas guys? Thanks for your help. I will check the event log etc tomorrow. The only other relevant message was the system shutdown unexpectedly.I've temporarily disabled the network card and the system is no longer randomly shutting down (at least). Is that confirmed by Avid themselves?I have had an issue with one Lanshare EX3 about a 2 years ago where probably due to dust one internal fan failed causing overheating causing the fiber card to fail.. After replacing the fan, removing all the dust and re-seating the fiber card, all has been well since. It's a good reminder of the importance of cooling.It would be nice to learn the final solution to the problem. Timely fashion. Life kinda got in the way and my trial of Designer has since expired. I am, however, going to purchase Affinity Photo today and hopefully all will go smoothly. I'm trying to decide if I should run with my old WACOM Intuos 3 PTZ-1230 or install the newer HUION WH1409. Any feeling as to which would be most likely to give the best user experience? Thanks. I'm in the process of evaluating Affinity Designer as I'm trying to work myself away from someone else's subscription model. I really liked Affinity Photo and expect to purchase soon. In the meanwhile I grabbed the Affinity Designer demo (v 1.7.2.471) to check it out. I have not been able to really get into it because I'm experiencing lock ups while using my graphics tablet. So far, it's happened while using the Vector Brush tool and the Pencil tool. I eventually get the little wait 'spinner' on screen and it just never comes back. This happened with my Huion 1409 (2048) tablet and then with my older WACOM Intuos 3 PTZ-1230 as well. The file has been nothing special... just a blank 8.5"x11" document where I've been trying out the various tools. I had recent drivers (12.4.2) from HUION but since they can sometimes be a little shaky I loaded up the WACOM with driver 6.3.15-3 (not the latest but known to work well with this Intuos tablet). My computer is running Windows 10 Pro on an HP z420 workstation, Xeon E5-1650 and 8GB RAM. Windows update to Windows 10, version 1903 installed on 8/18/2019 and is receiving regular updates.
