HALion 7 was recently released. HALion Sonic SE is gone. The upgrade to HALion Sonic 3 - HALion Sonic 7 - is now the bundled tier. It is an upgrade to HALion Sonic 3, not HALion Sonic Steinberg releases Colors Free, a free Cinematique Instruments sound library for HALion Sonic 7.The only thing better than a deal on an instrument is getting one for free. Earlier this week, we detailed the announcement and arrival of Steinberg’s HALion Sonic 7.Launched alongside HALion 7 Sonic was Colors Free, an instrument filled to the brim with sampled synths, textures, and a bevy of features. So what exactly is Colors Free?At first blush, it presents a rather eccentric interface, with a number of squares comprising what developer Cinematique Instruments calls a palette. That palette serves as an erstwhile preset browser. There isn’t a ton on offer here, but for the cost of admission, it is to be expected.Colors Free can be layered together with four different sound sources in total. This is done through the Easel panel, and users can blend together sampled analog synths, white noise, and other textures to make their own lush sound beds. This isn’t the sort of instrument you would intend for designing wild and crazy Neurofunk basses in, but it does make for a wonderful companion to your other weapons of choice.Colors Free’s final section is the mastering section, which houses the various effects hosted in the instrument. These all sound quite nice and certainly complement the sound sources on offer. The feature set is rounded out by the random preset generator, which guarantees inspiration won’t try up immediately after test-driving all the patches included.Colors Free is a fun addition to Steinberg’s free HALion Sonic 7 virtual instrument. While it certainly isn’t a synthesis powerhouse, there is plenty to enjoy here for those looking for pads, arpeggiated sequences, and ambient texturing. If you’d like to pick up Colors Free, it is, of course, free for all users. You’ll need a Steinberg account and their installation manager to use it.System requirements are the same as Halion Sonic 7, with Windows and macOS machines being supported. Windows users have the option of VST3 and AAX. Mac users have Intel and Apple Silicon binaries available in VST3, AAX, and AU formats.Download: Colors FreeMore:Steinberg Introduces FREE HALion Sonic 7 Virtual InstrumentLoFi Piano Is

Hearing rumors re. H7 and potential FM enhancement ? what specifically is it you need from Reaper/Halion? It's just a multi timbral instrument like any other in how reaper sees it...Mid in per channel...audio out per channel.....that's it..everything else is Halion specific and any tutorial will cover those.M 07-16-2022, 11:16 AM #6 Human being with feelings Join Date: Apr 2011 Location: St George, UT _ USA Posts: 2,881 Open Reaper v6.64, approve outs. Add new Track = HALion 6. Typical HALion 6 > Master > Out 2 > Out 3 > etc. HALion 6 'Slot Rack' loaded with A1 Violin Solo _ A2 Cello Solo _ A3 Viola Solo, A4 Contrabass Solo, A5 Quartet Strings. Each assigned, in Reaper, to different MIDI Ch. Viola MIDI 1 etc. MIDI Keyboard Controller triggers only show on HALion 6, Master, Out 2. __ Audio only Out 2. Appreciate your help !! Plz understand, Reaper used daily, but in simplistic live-play ways _ to enjoy grand piano VI(s) with some backing instrument(s). The current issue with H6 is clearly some easy pilot error on my part. I may add a Scrn Shot Attachment, but I trust you know what I have described.RegardsThom B Last edited by sostenuto; 07-16-2022 at 01:38 PM. 07-17-2022, 10:03 AM #7 Human being with feelings Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: London UK Posts: 3,490 you need to set each slot to send to a different output. So where it says 'master' on the right of the slot, click there and a drop down menu will appear and you'll see all your halion outs. Also you will need to make a separate midi track for each instrument slot, the halion all outs are only the audio outputs with a master track. If you want multi timbral midi you need to add a midi track per instrument slot too.You need to google how to use Kontakt 6 in reaper , it's the same principal.....Or just open a separate instance of halion per instrument M 07-17-2022, 11:50 AM #8 Human being with feelings Join Date: Apr 2011 Location: St George, UT _ USA Posts: 2,881 Just tried Multiple Tracks of H6 each with different Strings /Instrument /MIDI Ch.Error pyramid shows in H6. Guessing entire issue is DEMO limitations. If so, much lost time and resources. H6 surely strong choice, yet feel better now to refocus on deep-dive in Omni v2.8 and Keyscape later. The BBC orchestra is great if you can get it on a sale price when they run the sales.Halion is a great but it's very deep and does synthesis etc etc , if you just want good samples there's easier and better sounding ways.M 07-18-2022, 02:12 AM #10 Human being with feelings Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Geordieland Posts:

Tonal part of an electric piano with the attack of a guitar sample. Separate the noise part of a recording and send it through a unique effects chain, while keeping the tone as clean as possible. This is not only great for creating unique sounds, but also a complete tool for building new kinds of libraries.New X-LFOEnrich your sounds with spectacular movements. The new X-LFO can modulate two-dimensional parameters for wavetable, FM, granular and the spectral zone. Create everything from wobbly basses to complex, animated FM sounds.Redesigned MediaBay: Easy access to everything you are looking forFind the sounds you are looking for faster than ever. The MediaBay in HALion has been completely refreshed, with a clearer, uncluttered structure, context-sensitive search, and an improved user experience. This makes browsing for the right samples, layers, programs, presets and multis much more efficient.10 new effectsOscilloscopeVisualize audio signals directly in HALion 7 with the new Oscilloscope module. You can adjust the displayed timeframe and switch between the left and right channels or the summed signal. This is especially helpful for analyzing your audio or, for example, to visualize how modulation is changing the signal.Load new impulse responses and import your ownMake room for all your creative ideas by loading your own impulse responses from recordings of halls, studios or legendary hardware units into HALion and use these in the REVerence reverb. We have also added several IRs from iconic chamber, spring and plate units like the EMT 240 “Goldfolie”, Lexicon 224, AKG BX5 and RE-501.New tools for designing outstanding instrumentsThe Macro Page Editor is packed with incredible new features, like the spectral view in sample displays and many more tools to help you build extremely creative instruments. HALion now allows you to connect bitmaps and SVGs with external editors. You can also load SVG resources directly in HALion and animate these by using Lua expressions. With new appearance and color options, you can design controls even faster and more flexibly. Combine all of this with the new vector graphic controls library and you can be sure the instruments you design will look simply amazing.More
