2025-04-24Hi folks. We have been working on the Lexham Greek-English Interlinear Septuagint for over three years (see the introductory pre-pub post here), and we are now able to release an edition of the entire corpus, including the alternate texts!I'm announcing this a bit pre-emptively as it is a crazy time of year for us, the time of the ETS and SBL national meetings. The release of the completed Lexham LXX Interlinear will happen sometime over the next week, but I'm unsure when and I will likely be out of the office when it happens. And I wanted to make sure folks knew the file sizes when the downloads become available. (Hey, if you're at ETS or SBL, be sure to stop by the Logos booth and say hi to us!)Now, back to the LXX. What are these alternate texts? All of the places where Rahlf's edition splits the page to present alternate material: Some chapters of Joshua, an alternate edition of Judges, an alternate edition of Tobit, and the Theodotion version of Daniel (with Prayer of Azariah), Susanna and Bel and the Dragon.Note that this also fixes issues the LXX interlinear had in its Bible data type implementation. It now is a full-fledged, Logos4 LXX Bible data type resource. (MJ Smith, insert rejoicing here). There are two resources; one is an update of an existing resource (LLXXI), the other (LLXXIVAR) is new and contains the alternate texts. If you already have the LXX Interlinear, these resources are updates. When they become available, hopefully some time over the next week, if you use Logos4 you'll probably be prompted to download them. If you use LDLS3, you'll need to grab them from ftp://ftp.logos.com/lbxbooks.File SizesLLXXI.logos4: ~57MBLLXXIVAR.logos4: ~3MBLLXXI.lbxlls: ~72MBLLXXIVAR.lbxlls: ~5MBOne item to note: In previous versions of LLXXI, the main resource (LLXXI) had the Theodotion version of Daniel (and additions). We now have translation of the Old Greek, and this is now the edition in the main resource. The Theodotion version is in the alternate texts resource, LLXXIVAR.
