DISCLAIMER: I have seen many reports in the King's Quest Speedrunning discord over the years that this guide has not worked for some individuals on their hardware. I knew this when writing the guide that it was not going to be a sure fire solution for everyone (and quite frankly I am surprised this method even worked or me), especially as time moves forward and OS/hardware changes. That being said I have tested running Mask of Eternity in a Windows 98 Virtual Machine and found that it runs near perfectly (as perfect as this game can run) without crashes, even with the whole copying files loading screen. I can recommend that solution as an alternative to this. I will not include instructions on how to set one up as I am sure there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube or elsewhere. So be aware that this guide may not work for you and that alternate methods of getting this lovely game working may be necessary. So after many many months of toiling with Mask of Eternity I finally found a setup where the game will not crash during a run and will run in 1920x1080 borderless windowed. Here was my method:First find an image of the game CD (.iso); this will not work with the GOG distribution. Mount this to a virtual disc drive (Windows 10 does this automatically with .iso images). Then download this: and run the installer and install it. You will have to tell it which drive letter MoE is mounted in.Next download this: (password is kqmoefix) into the MoE directory (Sierra/Mask of Eternity) and run kq8fix.exe. Copy the settings off the site and make sure to check the box next to "Mask.exe".Next download this: into MoE directory. Go to the "3DFX" folder, x86, and copy the .dll files there to the main MoE directory. Run dgVoodooCpl.exe.Go to "Appearance"Tick "Windowed"Go to "Glide" tab. Set "Resolution" to 1920x1080 or your monitor's native resolution. Hit "Apply" and close the program.Download the Indeo Video Codec: it. This will allow Windows to play the cutscenes.Download DxWnd: to it's own folder. Right click DxWnd, compatibility tab, tick run as administrator tab.Launch DxWnd. Right click and click "add". Name it whatever you want. Set the path and launcher to "Mask.exe" in the MoE directory.Under "Generic" tick "No banner" and "Acquire admin caps".Under "Position" tick "Desktop work area".Go to "Video" tab. Under "Window Handling" tick "No

If you would like to play older games under Windows 10 and also Windows 8(.1) you often need to reach for some wrapper. There are two reasons for that, first is huge advance in DirectX, second is usually related to CD check methods which are not compatible up to this day. There could be more, like core affinity - where just one core is supported or graphic driver issues related to OpenGL or fullscreen also just merely Windows ones. Some of them can be supressed from "Compatibility Settings" on the Properties page. And heck, some not.If you get Heroes II. Gold from the GoG.com store, you have an option to add also Windows version (among other goodies), check "More" → "Backup & Goodies" → Install Win version. This is then installed to separate folder named "Heroes of Might and Magic 2 (Win)". You should install it on drive C and run.The same is true for CZ or PL localised versions from CD Projekt. Albeit older they should still work under current Windows just with "Compatibility" settings. If you have original from Ubisoft or 3DO, try to use DxWnd. Current version 2.04.98 supports 1238 games, among them are Heroes of Might & Magic II., III. and IV. And they can be eventually added, like Heroes. All games need to be Windows version, if you have DOS ones go for DOSBOX and that would be a completely different story. For supported games, download DxWnd first, install on your drive C (That serves as a prevention of many troubles), go to "File" → "Import" and select your profile within the game, from "exports" directory. With that game icon will be added to your DxWnd menu, right click on it, select "Edit" and locate your current game path. Success should be marked with green dot appearing on the game icon. And now you can run (it)! You can either run Heroes II. in fullscreen or you need to have them set up correctly, like below:"Right click into the empty space, choose "Add", pick the location. Go to the "Video" TAB, right down pick "Initial resolution: 1280 x 1024" and on the left side "Force Win Resize". Save by OK and run by clicking on the icon."Somehow this is necessary for playing PoL campaigns.(source: reddit & CH)See the picture below to get hang on Heroes I.Courtesy of Alure155, it was being discussed here.DxWnd - downloadDxWnd - About

Before you say "wow, this is a very dumb topic" please dont, im seriously looking for help configuring my winMUGENIm using winMUGEN Plus because i cant find winMUGEN (not plus) anywhere, i've even went into mugen.cfg and changed the fullscreen option to 1,but still, the game doesn't go into fullscreen?! (also, i've tried using alt + enter but nope, didnt work)also, does anyone know where to get the real winMUGEN and not the hacked version? if so, thanks Lyrica Re: How do i make winMUGEN plus go fullscreen? #2 August 21, 2024, 04:35:59 amthe real question is why are you using WinMUGEN which is 20+ years old when there is 1.0 and 1.1 (and even Ikemen) with full retro-compatibility? Basara Bogard Re: How do i make winMUGEN plus go fullscreen? #3 August 21, 2024, 07:03:49 amMaybe that's not the issue... maybe it's your WindowsWinMUGEN (and for extension DOSMUGEN) doesn't work anymore on Windows 8 and beyond (and if still works, has a lot of errors and a lot of options don't work anymore like fullscreen), not even with DOSBox, so if you got Win8 or Win10 forget about WinM and better get M1.0, M1.1 or IKEMEN instead mapleleafgrappl1ng Re: How do i make winMUGEN plus go fullscreen? Brazilian-themed.Any comments about it?… JumpStart Playthroughs Compilation For convenience, I'm going to try to make a comprehensive list of all the JumpStart playthrough videos I've found so far. Check them out here. If you would like to play with a different number of pieces or change other options, simply hover over the puzzle image, hover over the arrow, and then hover over "Play as" - that will give you options to change. Digital puzzles can be extremely fun, so I hope you enjoy! I'll probably be uploading more in the future. How to run JumpStart games in windowed mode JumpStart games always want to run in full-screen mode, but on occasions, that might not be what you or I want. After a couple attempts of finding a way to run the games in windowed mode, I found a completely functional solution in the form of a handy tool called DxWnd. Download the program, run it, right-click the white area, click "Add", choose a name and path to the game executable (*.exe file), and then double-click the name (or right-click it and choose "Run"). Very easy and very handy! At least with the (mostly default) settings I chose, the end result isn't exactly like a "normal" window (I can't move it around, there's a strange black box behind it, and the minimize, maximize and close buttons don't appear until you
