Vinayaka Chaturthi during Bhadrapada month is known as Ganesha Chaturthi. Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated by Hindus all over the world as the birthday of Lord Ganesha.(2) Sankashti Chaturthi:-- The Chaturthi after Purnima (full moon) during Krishna Paksha is known as Sankashti Chaturthi. Sankashti Chaturthi is also known as Ganesh Sankatahara or Sankatahara Chaturthi among Tamil Hindus. Although Sankashti Chaturthi fasting is done every month but the most significant Sankashti Chaturthi falls in month of Magha according to Purnimant School and in month of Paush according to Amavasyant School.* In North India Sankashti Chaturthi during Magha month is known as Sakat Chauth.* This day is also the "Pushya Krishna Chaturthi" according to South Indian Calendars (in Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati and Kannada Calendars). * Some people even observe fast during this day. Devotees of Lord Ganesha keep fast from sunrise to moonrise on Sankashti Chaturthi. Sankashti means deliverance during troubled times. Lord Ganesha, the supreme lord of intelligence, symbolizes the remover of all obstacles. Since, the first year Ganesh utsavam, the popularity of Balapur Ganesh mandal has been increasing year by year. The mandal is also honored with another name – ‘Adhi Vinayaka’.Balapur Ganesh mandal has made it to limelight nationwide when they have started laddu auction in 1994. That year, the laddu was auctioned for Rs 450. Since then the price of laddu auction has been increasing substantially.In 2015, Balapur laddu auction price was Rs 10,32,000 (10 lakh 32 thousand rupees). A part of laddu is distributed among devotees, and the remaining laddu is sprinkled in fields (farms) of the devotee who gets the laddu in auction for better crop.
