Design / Layout****Model Design/ Appearance This camera looks almost identical to its sister series camera, the DX7590. The design is reminiscent of an SLR with a larger right-hand grip and an electronic viewfinder. This model is black and has panels of plastic and rubber around its housing. Although it is SLR-shaped, the Kodak EasyShare Z7590 is still compact enough at 3.9 x 3.2 x 3.2 inches to hold with one hand. With the black finish and polished silver highlights around the lens, this model has an attractive look. It doesn’t have the sleek out-on-the-town look that slim cameras achieve, but it has a subtler look of professionalism. Size/ Portability This EasyShare model is not marketed to be a compact camera, although it is quite compact for its SLR-like shape. It weighs 12.3 ounces without the battery or SD card, so a camera bag and neck strap may make prolonged shooting more comfortable. The Z7590 has loops on both sides of the camera to string a neck strap into. The camera body has square-like measurements at 3.9 x 3.2 x 3.2 inches. The Kodak Z7590 would be bulky for a pocket, but could easily fit into a purse or handbag. Handling Ability As stated before, the EasyShare Z7590 is slightly bulky, but handling shouldn’t be awkward. Users can hold on to it with one hand, but will want to use two hands for more stable shooting. The right-hand grip and rear thumb grip make handling while shooting much more comfortable for this size of camera. Control Button/ Dial Positioning/ Size The Kodak EasyShare Z7590 has the same layout as its sister series model, the DX7590. The mode dial seems oversized — which isn’t a bad thing - and the power button and zoom switch undersized, but the rest of the control buttons seem to be sized just right. Is that more of an artistic dimension to photography to make it more appealing to the eye or are there technical reasons to off center a subject as well?Have you every heard of the term Rule of Third in photography. If not, here is a link to an article. It explain it in a very simple way with good example. would say it is more of an artistic dimension than technical. Generally speaking, off center subject make a picture more pleasing and more vivid. However there are time when you do want your subject to on the center. Keep in mind there is no "set" rules. The Rule of Third is kind of like Photography 101. My fiance recently bought me this camera when visiting a pawn shop. I was so happy to have a nice camera, then got disappointed when I read reviews on it. He got it as a present for a road trip to California we're taking in a couple weeks. I took it to the city and loved the panoramic picture I got, the other pics looked good too. I used cheap batteries so they died quickly but will be getting lithium ones for the trip. The pictures shared on this post make me so happy as now I know I can get great pics with it. Does anyone know of a page to use to get settings for great pics. I have looked but mostly it's people wanting to sell you courses and stuff. Is one of the most friendly blog around.First of all congrats of you getting the AZ401.Secondly don't waste time looking around for the tips/course for taking great pics with AZ401. As you have already mentioned mostly they want to sell you stuff.I could recommend that you start using the Auto (Smart) mode (think it is the Red Camera icon on the dial). With that the camera basically choose the best setting for you. You have no control over setting. Go out to shoot at everything and get yourself familiar with the characteristic of the camera.Then try out the P mode. Over 90% of the time you could get by with P mode which give you some degree of control over +/- EV and ISO setting.Kodak auto white balance is very good. You could basically leave the WB setting to Auto.Keep the ISO as low as possible.Keep in mine that small sensor and P&S is not good for indoor / low light situation.S (shutter priority) and A (Aperture priority) mode gives you more control over shutter speed and aperture.A certain degree of post processing is also a factor to good picture. Just don't over process it.Hope that help. Kodak color still rules. Most of us here have far more expensive cameras BUT our Kodaks often produce nicer images if the circumstances are applicable (i.e. good lighting). Chiue gave great advice and I'd just re-iterate it... keep it on the auto "smart" mode setting until you're more familiar with it. Don't worry about settings initially. Just enjoy the camera and photography. Over time as you become more comfortable with your camera you can experiment with it and try different settings as chiue mentioned. It takes awesome photos of the moon with its long zoom (I use digital zoom also to give me a 160X zoom total) I have started shooting night sky photos using the Manual settings available and it is great! It is easy to use, not that heavy, quality

Pixpro AZ401 In reply to Sactojim • Apr 29, 2018 2 Sactojim, It was your posts in here and your pictures, both in here and on flickr that inspired me to buy this camera. It was delivered April 9th. I've never really taken pictures before and am a straight up rookie. It will take me years to get to the level of you guys but this camera allows me to take pictures better than I ever thought I could. While they pale in comparison to you guys, they inspire me to spend more time and money in this hobby. Anyway, here's a few of my best pictures from someone who, 3 weeks ago never took pictures and didn't know squat about any of this. Thanks for the inspiration.I seem to have a problem focusing on birds even though I'm using a tripod. I put the box squarely on the bird and press slowly until it turns green and beeps, but 9 times out of 10 it seems to want to focus on the branch he's sitting on, the feeder that he's standing on, the fencepost off to the side, or whatever. I'm still working that out. I've found that it's better if I stay within the optical zoom. When I go past 40x, it's anybody's guess what is going to be in focus. Any pointers for a newbie other than keep shooting?
