I'm updating our article on best free backup tools and am looking for some high-res screenshots of the program's UI. Files without full unpacking. Until recently, he did an excellent job with these archives. LarryK Posts: 3 Joined: 23 Aug 2021, 21:15 Backup on Network I want to back up files to an external hard drive connected to another computer in my home (my wife's). I cannot enter the drive letter I assigned; instead, Cobian wants the full name: \COMPUTERNAME\BACKUP\FINANCE\ for example. But then Cobian kicks an error message and says it cannot write to that drive. When I searched for "network" nothing was found...even though there are entries addressing this issue.So I went to Options, went to control panel, and I can stop the Service...but then Cobian tells me "ERR 2021-08-24 10:24 The engine is not found. Please see the FAQ"The Status tells me Service is installed but not started; application is not running (even though I have it open). What am I missing here" How do I get the application running? -L. I stopped the service, shut down Cobian, made sure it really was closed, then launched it as Admin. Checked it's status under the Control Panel inside Cobian, and it now tells me it's running as an application, not a service.I ran my backup to my network location,

I installed OS on new SSD.So, I have previous HDD and it is accessible.Is there a way to find and copy old settings so that I can see what tasks were scheduled and how they where programmed?Then, I will install Cobian Reglector as new software to use.Moreover, how to configure email notification? Evg Posts: 3 Joined: 02 Feb 2023, 13:30 Can't unzip backup archive Cobian Backup 11 Hi!I make backup copies from two servers (zip-archive, without encryption), the versions of the program are the same. Recently, when opening any archive from one of the servers via 7-zip, I see only a small part of the files, although they are there, because when I open the same archive with Explorer, I see all the files, but when I try to copy them, I get an error 0x80004005. Unpacking with 7-zip also fails - "Error in headers. Unconfirmed start of archive." On both servers, the backup settings are the same, but the archives open perfectly from the second server. There are no errors in the Cobian Backup logs, it says that the backup was successfully completed. The only working option to get data from the archive is to use the unpacker built into the program, when using it, there are no errors and the files are working. P.S. when trying to unpack, different versions of 7-zip were used, as well as WinRar - the same problems.
